tangles

Sometimes I find myself doing Vancouver kind of walking. You know, with one's head down, looking at the ground and avoiding all eye contact. People complain about this...Vancouverites are so aloof! But if I had been busy being approachable, I wouldn't have caught sight of a beautiful tangle of dying plant matter lying on the ground.
And that would have been a shame.

Inspired, I went inside and drew this. Hence continuing my reclusive behaviour.

Late last year, I was honoured to be invited to a potlatch ceremony.
The chief's dance was incredible...
the blankets swished as he circled,
but his arms and head
moved only so slightly
and precisely.
